WANTED: Several stout-hearted, resourceful, courageous and inquisitive people, who love the Lord and are frustrated with their earthly sovereign to start colony. Duties include, but are not limited to, making friends with the neighbors, farming, hunting, fishing, building, and other miscellaneous activities. Must have strong desire to survive.
I have said it before, and I will say it again. In my house....if it isn't fun, it isn't school! Lots of people do school at home, but NOT ME! I love to play as much as possible during the early years, and focus on heart issues. If I do it right, my kids will never even notice they are learning!! So far, so good. My kids dig it! And this week, I think my friends' kids had a good time, too!
Since my second year of homeschooling (WAY back when), I have always been a part of a co-op. Usually just a few family friends. This year is no exception. There are 6 families and we are doing history together this year!!!! I LOVE HISTORY! And to make matters better....we are doing AMERICAN HISTORY...which I also love. And I get to teach every single week!!!!!
This past Friday was our first co-op of the year. We did a whole Colonial Day! The girls made mob caps, the boys made WIGS. We prepared Queen Cakes (complete with homemade rose water!) and had a tea. We also made floating candles in sea shells like the Plymouth Colonists made. What a blast!
We have two more weeks of learning what it was like to be a colonist in the New World and then we will start progressing to REVOLUTION! Here are our Colonial Kids!
