Okay.....you ever have a kid that just gets on a roll of funny stuff?
Gecko is on that roll in our house right now. Since he has learned to read, he seems to have a new confidence in conversing. His understanding, however, is not keeping up with his tongue. This makes for funny conversation.
Such as.....
*Gecko: Mom, did we finish reading The Dangerous Journey today?
*Me: Yes.
*Gecko: I am gonna look at it, okay?
*Me: Okay....but take really good care of that book. I want it around to read to YOUR little boys. Then I can tell them, "I used to read that book to your daddy!"
*Gecko: You read that book to Daddy when HE was little?????
Lately, we have been enjoying old sitcoms. One of our favorites was sent to Joss by Shirin when Joss had surgery during the summer. I Love Lucy.......or as Gecko likes to call it: I Love Sally. (who??)
Since we enjoyed I Love Lucy/Sally so much, I thought my girls would really enjoy Laverne and Shirley. And they do. Gecko thinks it is hilarious! He also thinks it is called Laverne and Lucy. (well, at least she got another gig after Ricky dumped her for Sally!).
*Carli: I think those two guys are so funny!
*Gecko: You mean Lenny and SQUEEGIE? (WHO???)
And another Squeegie conversation:
*Carli: That guy has a high, squeaky voice.
*Gecko: Who? Squeegie? He likes Shirley. (this next part he says in a deadpan Squiggy voice and it is HILARIOUS!) 'Hey Shirl, want me to take you on a pic-a-nic?
And in some ways, his conversation is progressing amazingly! Such as.....
Driving home from Denver with Angi...
*Angi: Now, you guys feel free to take a rest on the way home.
*Gecko: Don't tempt me, I might just do that! (reminder...the kid is FIVE!)
Or how about this one...
*Gecko: Know what's impressive Mom?
*Me: What?!
*Gecko: I built my train track from just looking at the picture!
*Carli: Know what is really impressive Mom? A five year old that uses the word impressive correctly!
We may be the only ones who find it funny....but hey, it's my blog after all! What do your kids say that make YOU laugh?

Kk
Zach has a drum gig at a church on Halloween. His percussion teacher tells them they can all dress up. Zach's going as a tourist. (grin)
Jillian, of course, wants to dress up. She'll be little red riding hood. (awwww....) So I say to Evan (whose 15 and half)... "Would you consider being the big bad wolf to your sister's little red if I could get you a mask or something." He says, "Yes. But not an anatomically correct one!" (guess where THAT thought came from!)
That Gecko boy is really growing up fast! He talks so much more than last year. He told me yesterday in chapter, that when he is six he's going to do a a speech with Catey. Then he said, when he is six he can also go with Madison during chapter and maybe do a speech with her. That would be the cutest speech!
We love that Gecko boy soooooooooooo much!!
As I read this entry I could hear Gecko in my ears as I read. He is such a cutie-pa-tutie!! Love that boy!
Miss Lydia keeps us in stitches all the time but I have to say one of the funnies things she has ever said was to Mary Beth and Joel. She said, out of the blue, "When I grow up I am going to marry a preacher!" We all thought that was so sweet. Then she said, "Ya, I am going to marry a preacher so I don't have to go to church. He can just preach me at home!"
Love that kid.
Love you!
Jen
