WAITING TO EXHALE

I thought I was doing such a good job.  I texted with Catey every day that she was gone.  Most days, we got to talk on the phone.  Towards the end of her trip, our conversations stretched to an hour or longer.  I actually got used to her being gone.  I was not just holding up....I was doing fine.

Then, on Monday, she came home.

As soon as I saw her....this daughter whom I was doing fine with being gone....I left my four younger children standing at baggage claim and RAN to her, with tears streaming down my face!  I bawled like a baby and realized that even though I had been fine, I had been holding my breath the whole time she was gone.

Now, she was home and I exhaled one long breath, completely racked with sobs.

All is right with the world and I am breathing normally again, now that all my kiddos are together under one roof....something that hasn't happened much this summer.

And I didn't even need CPR.

Oh my gawd.... she even LOOKS more grown-up.

Enjoy your roof and the noises within your walls... refresh yourself with the familiar again and soak it in.

Even from here, I'm so glad she's home.

And I'm sure she had a fabulous time. She does look more mature. What a blessing she is to you. Enjoy her while you can, Mama.
